Indigenous knowledge
Peoples who have lived in a place for generations hold detailed knowledge of its plants, animals, weather and seasons. Examples include fire management in Australia, wayfinding across the Pacific without instruments and terraced farming in the Andes. Scientists increasingly work with it as equal knowledge.
